Eddie Howe Sets Sights on Third Consecutive Win as Newcastle United Face West Ham

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has challenged his players to secure a third consecutive Premier League victory when they host West Ham United at St James’ Park next weekend.

The Magpies have reignited their season with back-to-back wins over Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, as well as a Carabao Cup quarter-final berth after defeating Chelsea.

Howe acknowledged the “difficult period” Newcastle have overcome and emphasized the importance of building momentum. “We’re really keen to do that (win three on the bounce). That’s going to be the key to this year with how the Premier League is forming,” he said.

“At an early stage, it looks like a very tight league with few points between teams. Teams who can put those runs together will put themselves in a great position. We’re trying to do that, along with a number of other teams.”

A third consecutive win would propel Newcastle into the Champions League places and mark their first such streak since September 2023. Howe added, “If we can get our third win, and it sounds like a long time since we’ve done it, we’ll have achieved a great feat. Confidence is building. We were in a difficult period, but I always believe we will get rewarded in the end (for improved performances).”
