Celtic and Rangers Told to Meet £4m Valuation for Motherwell Starlet Lennon Miller
Motherwell’s highly-rated midfielder Lennon Miller has been linked with a move to either Celtic or Rangers, but the Scottish giants will need to meet the Steelmen’s £4m valuation.
Miller, 18, has impressed under Stuart Kettlewell, captaining the side in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final. His performances have sparked interest from the Old Firm, but Motherwell are determined to secure a record-breaking transfer fee.
The Steelmen received £3m from Celtic for David Turnbull in 2020 and are keen to surpass that figure for Miller, who is contracted until 2026.
Miller’s father, Lee, a former Aberdeen, Hearts, and Middlesbrough striker, has provided insight into his son’s priorities. Speaking to PLZ Soccer in September, Lee revealed that Lennon values first-team minutes above all else.
“There has always been talk of Rangers and Celtic being in for Lennon, since he was 10 or 11 years old. We have always maintained ‘look, you are in the right place, you are thriving’ – and I think playing on a smile on your face and having people you trust and enjoy playing football with is really important.”
Lee also emphasized Lennon’s ambition and desire to play at the highest level, but stressed the importance of patience.
“He’s not interested in going anywhere else right now in terms of he wants to rack up as many games as possible. Yeah, that time will probably come, and he wants to play at the highest level, Lennon.
“But I go through different scenarios with him all the time. ‘Think if this happened, this could happen’ in different situations. And he’s got ambition, he’s got massive ambition, he wants to be a Scottish international, play at the highest level. The way he’s going just now he will do that, but there’s no rush for that, and he understands that as well.”
Key Points:
- Celtic and Rangers interested in signing Lennon Miller
- Motherwell value Miller at £4m
- Miller’s contract runs until 2026
- Father Lee emphasizes importance of first-team minutes
- Miller ambitious to play at highest level and become Scottish international
As the January transfer window approaches, Motherwell’s resolve will be tested. Will Celtic or Rangers meet the Steelmen’s valuation, or will Miller continue to thrive at Fir Park?
