Leeds United’s Loanee Darko Gyabi Ineligible to Face Parent Club

Plymouth Argyle will be without key player Darko Gyabi when they face Leeds United on Saturday, due to the terms of his loan agreement. Gyabi, a 20-year-old midfielder, is on loan from Leeds United and has become an important player for Argyle.

Gyabi’s versatility has been on display this season, featuring as a defensive midfielder, number 8, and left winger. He has been Argyle’s second most successful dribbler and fourth in key passes, progressive carries, and progressive passes.

Mark Lovell of Pilgrims Podcast praises Gyabi’s attitude and involvement in Argyle’s better moments. “He’s obviously a player with huge potential… He’s been involved in our better performances.”

Gyabi signed a four-year contract with Leeds United in 2022 for £5 million, linked to Kalvin Phillips’ move to Manchester City. His chances at Leeds were limited, but this season provides an opportunity to prove himself in the Championship.

Adam Forshaw, a former Leeds United player, may replace Gyabi in the lineup. Forshaw has started five games for Argyle this season but has struggled with injuries.

Manager Wayne Rooney will need to adjust his strategy without Gyabi, who has been a crucial player for Argyle. The match against Leeds United will be a challenging test for Rooney’s team.
