UEFA Sanction Hangs Over Celtic? Rodgers Makes a REASONABLE Appeal to Celtic Fans Ahead of RB Leipzig Clash….

Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers Urges Fans to Refrain from Pyrotechnics Ahead of RB Leipzig Clash

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his plea to the club’s supporters to cease using fireworks and pyrotechnics during matches, citing the risk of a UEFA ban.

The Scottish champions face RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday, and Rodgers is keen to avoid a repeat of the incidents that marred Celtic’s Scottish League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen on Saturday. The match was delayed due to fans lighting fireworks, prompting concerns about a potential UEFA sanction.

Celtic was fined by UEFA following similar incidents during their 7-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund last month and has been warned that further offenses could result in a fan ban.

Rodgers emphasized, “It’s just exactly what we said before, it’s not something that we really want to see. There’s that sanction hanging over the club and we really don’t want that.”

With Celtic’s Champions League position looking promising, Rodgers is eager to maintain momentum. The team has secured four points from three outings, including a well-earned draw against Atalanta.

Leipzig, meanwhile, is under pressure after losing its first three matches, including a defeat to Liverpool. Rodgers acknowledged, “Leipzig will be no different to Atalanta and Borussia Dortmund, a top team right towards the top of their league. They have everything that you would want in a top European side. Speed, strength, power, technique.”

Celtic’s focus will be on replicating the discipline and commitment that earned them a point against Atalanta. Rodgers added, “I think what Atalanta proved to the players at the very highest level, we can do that but it really takes a big concentration, it takes a big commitment and it takes a togetherness.”

As Celtic prepares for the crucial clash against Leipzig, Rodgers’ message to the fans is clear: refrain from pyrotechnics and support the team in a responsible manner.
