Celtic Linked with Surprise Move for Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen
Celtic have been linked with a surprise move for Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to reports. The 32-year-old Danish playmaker is reportedly expected to leave Old Trafford in the summer when his contract expires.
Eriksen, who has also played for Tottenham Hotspur and Internazionale, is said to be attracting interest from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, who is believed to be an admirer of the midfielder’s vision and creativity.
However, any potential move for Eriksen would likely depend on several factors, including the player’s wages and Celtic’s ability to accommodate him within their squad. Eriksen is reportedly earning £150,000 per week at Manchester United, a figure that is significantly higher than Celtic’s current wage structure.
Furthermore, Rodgers already has a number of midfielders at his disposal, including Arne Engels, Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor, Paulo Bernardo, and Luke McCowan. As such, it remains to be seen whether Celtic would be willing to make significant changes to their midfield in order to accommodate Eriksen.
One factor that could potentially influence Celtic’s decision is the future of Reo Hatate, who has been linked with moves to England and Germany. If Hatate were to leave Celtic in January, the club may be more inclined to pursue a deal for Eriksen.
In addition to Eriksen, Celtic have also been linked with other midfielders, although it remains unclear at this stage whether the club will make any significant signings in the January transfer window.
