Paul Merson Predicts Manchester United Win, but Admits to Having a “Sneak Feeling” About Everton

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has shared his prediction for the upcoming Premier League match between Manchester United and Everton, but also admitted to having a nagging feeling that the Toffees could spring a surprise.

Merson, speaking to Sportskeeda, expressed his doubts about Manchester United’s new system under manager Ruben Amorim, citing their unconvincing performance against Ipswich Town. Despite this, he predicted a 2-0 victory for the Red Devils.

“I’m not entirely convinced about Manchester United’s new system under Amorim,” Merson said. “After a point in that game, you would’ve thought Ipswich were the bigger club and not United, that’s how it went. You could say everyone was away on international duty and he did not have enough time. But if that performance was against one of the big boys in the league, Manchester United would have been destroyed by four or five goals!”

Merson also acknowledged that Everton possess a unique “X-factor” that can sometimes lead to unexpected results. “Everton are a team who have a special X-factor in them. They always have that one fixture every season when they just spring to life and surprise us,” he noted.

Despite predicting a Manchester United win, Merson confessed to having a “sneak feeling” about Everton. “I’m going for a United win, but I can’t help but admit that I have a sneak feeling about Everton,” he said.

Everton will be boosted by the return of Armando Broja, who is fit for the trip to Old Trafford. However, the Toffees will still be without several key players, including James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam, and Seamus Coleman.
