Tony Dorigo Lays Blame on Max Wober for Hull City’s Opening Goal Against Leeds United
Leeds United’s frustrating 3-3 draw against Hull City on Saturday has left fans and pundits alike scratching their heads. Despite taking a 3-1 lead, the Whites were unable to hold on, conceding two late goals to surrender valuable points. One of the major talking points from the match was Hull’s opening goal, which was scored by Abu Kamara.

Dorigo’s comments on LUTV commentary highlighted Wober’s mistake, saying: “What are we doing at the back? Why aren’t we picking up Kamara? He’s in acres of space on that right-hand side. The ball was a good one as well, wasn’t it. But, when you have that much space, you really should be closing them down, not allowing the pass. But then, just pick up your man instead. Max Wober, not exactly sure where he was, but Kamara has his chance and he takes it well.”
Wober’s mistake was a costly one, and it set the tone for a frustrating afternoon for Leeds United. Despite taking the lead through goals from Ao Tanaka and Dan James, the Whites were unable to hold on, conceding two late goals to surrender valuable points.
The draw leaves Leeds United just one point clear at the top of the Championship table, and manager Daniel Farke will be keen to address the defensive issues that have plagued his team in recent weeks. Wober’s mistake against Hull City was a prime example of the kind of error that can prove costly in the Championship.
Farke made two changes to the Leeds United starting lineup against Hull City, bringing in Wober for Sam Byram at left-back and Ethan Ampadu for Pascal Struijk at centre-back. However, the changes failed to have the desired impact, as Leeds United struggled to contain Hull City’s attack.
The Whites will be looking to bounce back from the disappointing draw when they face League Two side Harrogate Town in the FA Cup next Saturday. The match presents an opportunity for Leeds United to regain their momentum and build confidence ahead of a crucial run of fixtures in the Championship.
