Erik ten Hag, the former Manchester United manager, has been dismissed as a potential candidate to succeed Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United. TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has revealed that Ten Hag’s name has not been mentioned in discussions regarding Lopetegui’s replacement.
Crook’s assertion comes amid reports that West Ham’s hierarchy is considering alternatives to Lopetegui, who has overseen a dismal start to the season. The Irons’ 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on December 3 has intensified speculation surrounding Lopetegui’s future.
When asked about the possibility of Ten Hag taking the reins at West Ham, Crook responded on X: “Not a name mentioned to me, no.” This dismissal of Ten Hag’s candidacy comes despite his impressive credentials, which include a successful tenure at Ajax and two trophy wins during his time at Manchester United.
While Ten Hag’s record in the English top flight with Manchester United was underwhelming, his achievements at Ajax demonstrate his ability to excel in a managerial role. West Ham United may ultimately opt for an alternative candidate, with Graham Potter, Edin Terzic, and Sergio Conceicao reportedly under consideration.
