West Ham United Denied Legitimate Goal Against Leicester, Claims Former Referee Chief
West Ham United were wrongly denied a goal in their 3-1 defeat to Leicester on Tuesday, according to former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett. The goal, scored by Crysencio Summerville, was disallowed after referee Josh Smith and VAR officials deemed Tomas Soucek to have fouled Mads Hermansen.
Hackett, a former FIFA referee, has expressed his disagreement with the decision, stating that the goal should have stood. “Frankly, I have witnessed several similar incidents going unpunished and the goal allowed to stand,” he said. “This goal should have been allowed; the goalkeeper needed to be much stronger going for the ball.”
Hackett’s comments highlight the controversy surrounding the decision, which has been widely criticized by West Ham fans and pundits alike. The denial of the goal has added to the pressure on West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui, who is already facing scrutiny over his team’s performances.
