Barcelona Legends Xavi and Andres Iniesta Name Celtic Park as Stadium with Best Atmosphere
Barcelona legends Xavi and Andres Iniesta have paid tribute to Celtic Park, naming the stadium as having the best atmosphere they experienced during their illustrious careers.
Xavi, who visited Celtic Park five times as a player and captained Barcelona twice, recalled the intense atmosphere created by Celtic fans. He stated:
“The atmosphere generated by the fans in Celtic’s stadium for our visit was the most impressive I’ve ever witnessed. The grounds of Liverpool and Manchester United are good and the hostile feeling of playing against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu is also excellent, but the atmosphere against Celtic was the best.”
Iniesta, who played four times at the 60,000-capacity stadium, echoed Xavi’s sentiments, describing the atmosphere as “one of the best in the world.” He added:
“I’ll never forget playing against Celtic, either. The atmosphere is one of the best in the world. I was fortunate to play there several times and it was always so intense. It was an honour to play amid such incredible noise.”
The pair’s comments are a testament to the electric atmosphere that Celtic Park is renowned for. The stadium has hosted numerous memorable European nights, including a famous 2-1 victory over Barcelona in 2012.
