Celtic Defender Gustaf Lagerbielke Open to Permanent FC Twente Move

Celtic centre-back Gustaf Lagerbielke, currently on loan at FC Twente, has revealed that a permanent transfer to the Dutch club is a possibility.

Lagerbielke joined Twente on a season-long loan in the summer, after struggling to establish himself under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic. The 24-year-old Swedish defender has impressed in the Netherlands, sparking speculation about his future.

“It is a straight loan until the summer,” Lagerbielke told Fotbollskanalen. “Then there is always the possibility that I will be bought. So far it’s felt very good there, so we’ll see how it goes forward.”

Despite the potential for a permanent move, Lagerbielke has not ruled out returning to Celtic, where he remains under contract.

“There is always that [chance of going back to Celtic],” he added. “I still have a contract there. It’s not out of the question at all. Then I’ll have to see closer to the end of the season what happens with everything. But it’s a fantastic club.”

Key Points:

  • Gustaf Lagerbielke open to permanent FC Twente transfer
  • No purchase clause in loan agreement, but possibility remains
  • Defender has impressed in Netherlands, sparking speculation
  • Lagerbielke still under contract at Celtic, return not ruled out
  • Decision to be made closer to end of season

Lagerbielke’s future will be closely monitored by Celtic fans, as Rodgers assesses his defensive options. With the January transfer window approaching, clarity on Lagerbielke’s situation will be sought.
