Celtic News: McInnes Ruled Out of Rangers Job, Schmeichel Thriving at Parkhead
As the Scottish Premiership takes a brief hiatus for the international break, speculation surrounding Rangers’ managerial future continues to swirl. Philippe Clement’s precarious position has sparked rumors about potential successors, with Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes being mentioned as a contender.
However, former Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson has cast doubt on McInnes’ willingness to take the reins, citing the club’s current turmoil.
“I’m not so sure about Derek. Derek’s had the opportunity before and had a look at it, didn’t think it was the right time. Would he look at the club now and think it’s the right time? Absolutely not, because the club’s in a mess,” Ferguson told Ibrox News.
Meanwhile, Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has expressed his satisfaction with life at Parkhead since joining in the summer. The Danish shot-stopper has been impressive between the posts and has praised Brendan Rodgers’ style of play.
“I am very satisfied. I have been playing really well and I love being part of the team. It’s a cool style of play that we have, and it suits me really well,” Schmeichel told Tipsbladet.
Schmeichel also highlighted the pressure to perform at Celtic, saying:
“Anything but a victory is a failure. I feel super cool about that. It’s a completely different type of pressure than what I’ve been used to in my career. It is a new experience.”
Celtic currently sits atop the Scottish Premiership table, nine points clear of Rangers.
