Celtic’s Bench Strength Sends Warning Signs to Rangers, Says Derek Ferguson

Celtic’s impressive depth has left former Rangers player Derek Ferguson concerned about the club’s prospects in the upcoming Scottish League Cup final.

Ferguson praised Celtic’s recruitment, citing the quality of players on the bench, including Liam Scales, Adam Idah, Alex Valle, and Paulo Bernardo. “I was chuckling there, it’s quite scary, for me, aye (as a Rangers supporter),” Ferguson admitted on Open Goal.

James McFadden teased Ferguson about Rangers’ chances in the final, saying, “How long after the game on Sunday (against Motherwell) did you think ‘oh yeah, oh no!” Ferguson responded, “I know. You just want to get to the final. Listen, we are going to be massive underdogs, that’s for sure.”

Celtic’s recent performances, including a 6-0 thrashing of Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final and a Champions League win over RB Leipzig, have underscored their strength. Ferguson noted, “You look at Celtic, what a result. You are waxing lyrical about that performance (against Leipzig). They are in such a good place. Their recruitment.”
