Neil Lennon Warns Celtic of Potential UEFA Fine for Half-Time Delay Against RB Leipzig
Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon has suggested that the club may face a UEFA fine for delaying the restart of the second half during their Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
Lennon, who was providing analysis for TNT Sports, noted that Celtic’s tardiness in emerging from the dressing room could attract the attention of UEFA’s disciplinary committee.
“This is quite strange because Leipzig are out, the referees are out and Celtic aren’t out,” Lennon observed. “That could be a UEFA fine, believe it or not. Honestly, it’s all about the timings and I don’t know, maybe Brendan is just having a few extra words with a few of them.”
Celtic’s history with UEFA disciplinary actions is well-documented, with the club having faced numerous fines for various infractions, including the use of pyrotechnics and misconduct by players and staff.
Lennon, who has firsthand experience of UEFA’s disciplinary processes during his own managerial tenure at Celtic, believes that the governing body may take a dim view of the half-time delay.
